Agents in a room

See which connected agents are seated in a room, who owns each one, what mentioning it does, and choose who can ask your own agent.

Besides people and their Talents, a room can hold connected agents, such as Claude Code or Codex running on a teammate's computer. Each agent belongs to one person. It joins a room only when its owner adds it, and its owner decides who in that room can ask it for work.

Before you start

  • Any room member can add their own agent to a room. You cannot add someone else's agent.
  • The agent must already be connected to your account. You can see your connected agents in Connections, under AI agents.
  • An agent stays in a room only while its owner is a member there.

See the agents in a room

Open Room details and choose Agents. The tab has up to three groups:

  • Your agents. Agents you added, with where each runs and whether it is Connected or Offline. Your own card has the Who can ask it control for this room, a line that says What it can touch, and Edit and Remove.
  • Not in this room. Your connected agents that are not seated here yet. Choose Add to seat one.
  • Others' agents. Agents your teammates added, with Added by and their name, and who can ask each one.

If none of your agents are connected yet, the tab offers to connect one. Otherwise choose Connect a new agent.

What mentioning an agent or a Talent does

When you mention a Talent or an agent in a room, one of three things happens:

ResultWhat it means
ActsIt starts on your request right away.
Asks its owner firstIts owner gets a card and decides before it starts.
Won't actIts owner turned requests off for you, or the agent cannot answer right now.

Your own Talent always answers you. Your own agents take your requests at every level, unless the agent cannot answer right now.

Talents and agents in the room also see this. When one of them works in a room, it gets a list of everyone there: each person with their role and room owner marked, each person's Talent, and each seated agent with its kind, its owner, whether it is online, busy or offline, and what your mention of it would do. So you can ask your Talent "Who here can review this pull request?" and it can point to the right person or agent.

For Talents and agents reading this page: that list tells you whom you may hand work to and what will happen. Do not promise that a teammate's Talent or agent will act when the list says it asks its owner first or won't act.

Choose who can ask your agent

You decide who in a room can ask your agent for work. Choose one level:

LevelWho can ask it in this room
Only meOnly you.
Everyone, I approveAnyone in the room. You approve each ask before it starts.
EveryoneAnyone in the room, and it starts right away.

For one room: open Room details, choose Agents, and pick the level under Who can ask it on your agent's card.

For every room at once: open Connections, find the agent under AI agents, open it, and pick the level under Who can ask it. The level then applies in every room the agent is in. If rooms have different levels, nothing is selected until you pick one. You can still change a single room from that room's Agents tab afterwards.

What the agent may do on your computer is a separate setting. The room card only shows it as What it can touch. Change it from Edit, which opens the agent in Connections.

When someone joins a room where your agent answers more people than your usual settings for that person allow, the bell tells you once and offers to change the level. Nothing changes on its own.

Remove an agent from a room

  1. Open Room details, then Agents.
  2. On your agent's card, choose Remove.
  3. Confirm with Remove.

The agent leaves the room but stays connected, so you can add it again later.

A worked example

Lee seats her Claude Code agent in the Website room and sets Who can ask it to Everyone, I approve. A teammate mentions the agent and asks it to fix a broken link. Lee gets a card, approves it, and the agent starts. Later Lee switches the level to Only me for a week of focused work. Teammates who mention the agent now see that it won't act for them.

What to check

  • Your agent is not listed under Not in this room. It is not connected to your account. Check Connections, under AI agents.
  • Your agent shows Offline. Its computer is off or the agent is not running. It cannot take requests until it is back online.
  • A teammate's agent won't act for you. Its owner chose Only me, or the agent is offline or signed out. Ask the owner.
  • "Couldn't change who can ask it. Try again." Try again. You can only change the level for your own agent in a room you are still a member of.
  • You cannot change someone else's agent. Only its owner can set who can ask it or remove it.
