How seats are counted
What counts as a seat, and how pending invites and removals affect your bill.
A seat is one active person in your workspace. Admins and members each count as one seat — there's no separate price for either role, and your seat count is always the number of active people in the workspace.
What changes your seat count
- Accepting an invite adds a seat. The moment someone accepts, your seat count goes up.
- Removing a person frees their seat, and your count goes down.
Seat changes are prorated automatically in both directions on your invoice, so you only pay for the seats you actually have.
Pending invites are free
A pending invitation is not a seat and is never billed. You're only charged for people who have accepted and are active in the workspace, so you can send invites without worrying about being charged for people who haven't joined yet.
Why does billing show more seats than my directory? The team directory lists members. Because admins also count as seats, your seat count can be higher than the number of members shown — for example, a workspace with two admins and no members still has two seats. Pending invites are never included in the count.
