Take meeting notes

Record a meeting inside a document, get a summary, action items and a transcript by speaker, and keep typing your own notes around it.

Meeting notes live inside a document. You record, keep typing your own notes anywhere on the page, and when you finish, the meeting turns into a summary you can read, copy, listen to or drop into the doc.

Start a meeting

Either:

  • Open the + menu in the composer on Home, in a chat or in a room and choose Meeting notes. A new page opens with a meeting card ready.
  • Or, inside any plain document, type / and choose Meeting notes. The card lands where your cursor is, so you can keep an agenda above it and follow-ups below.

Then choose Start notes. Your browser asks for the microphone the first time. Tell the people in the room you are taking notes before you start.

While you record

  • The card shows Listening and a timer. Pause and Resume as you need.
  • Keep typing anywhere in the doc. Your own notes are the main record. The summary is written when you finish.
  • A single meeting can run up to three hours, and recording stops on its own at that point. If you record three hours in one day, a heads-up tells you so, and you can keep recording.
  • Choose Finish & summarize when the meeting ends, or Discard to throw the recording away.

The card captures your microphone, so it hears what your microphone hears.

What you get

Once the summary is ready, the card has two tabs.

  • Summary shows a short overview, the action items and the decisions. Use Copy summary, Listen to recap to hear the overview read aloud, or Insert into doc to add the summary and action items to the page as ordinary text you can edit.
  • Transcript holds the full transcript, split by speaker, in a scrolling panel inside the card. Copy transcript takes it out.

You can rename the meeting at any time by editing its title on the card.

No microphone? Paste a transcript

Choose Paste a transcript on the card and paste the text from any meeting tool. You get the same summary, action items and decisions. A pasted transcript is not split by speaker.

Privacy

  • The audio is deleted as soon as the transcript exists. TalentOS keeps the text, not the recording.
  • The transcript stays private to you. If you share the document, others see the meeting's title, time, length and short summary, never the transcript or the detailed summary.
  • To take a meeting out of the doc, choose Remove from doc.

What to check

  • "TalentOS can't hear you." Your browser blocked the microphone. Allow microphone access for TalentOS in your browser's site settings, then try again.
  • "Nothing was kept from that recording." No speech was picked up. Choose Record again, or Paste a transcript.
  • "The transcript is saved; the summary didn't land." Your transcript is safe. Try the summary again from the card.
  • No Meeting notes option. It only appears in plain documents and in the + menu. Designed documents do not take a meeting card.
